Both Chamberlain and Swartz entered the tournament with the pressure of being the No. 1 seed but each held off the field, winning five-straight matches to take the title. Chamberlain started the day with two major decisions before taking care of business with decisions the rest of the way. His closes match came in the final when he defeated Dan Osterman, 4-1. Swartz recorded one fall and one major decision on his way to the championship where he shut out Ty Vinson of Oregon State, 4-0. The four-point margin was the closest of the tournament for the redshirt junior.
Brian Owen collected three wins at 133 pounds, including a victory over No. 8 Devon Lotito to advance to the championship where he faced two-time All-American Ryan Mango. In the championship, Owen was defeated by a 10-6 decision.
Redshirt freshman Chris Castillo was a part of his first tournament lineup for Boise State and proved worthy with a third-place finish. Castillo won three-consecutive matches at 157 pounds before losing a 3-2 decision to No. 9 Andrew McCulley of Wyoming. The native of Zillah, Wash., then rebounded with two decisions to take third place.
J.T. Felix (285) was coming off a run at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational and finished with a 5-2 record, Sunday. His only losses were to No. 14 Mike McClure and Tyrell Fortune in the third-place bout.
Scott Bacon (174) was the final Bronco to finish in the top five. Bacon went 6-2 on the day to finish fifth, racking up a fall and a major decision along the way.
Travis Himmelman (141) and Cody Dixon (197) finished with winning records. Himmelman went 4-2 while Dixon went 3-2.
Redshirt freshmen Holden Packard and Rami Haddadin each tallied 1-2 records at 165 pounds and 125 pounds, respectively.
Boise State will not wrestle again until the new year, Jan. 5 when they try to avenge a loss earlier this season against Oregon State. The match will be televised on the Pac-12 Network.
