First team members must have maintained a 3.20 grade-point average or better in addition to participating in 60 percent of the team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.
Two-time Big 12 Champion Askren is in search of his third and final league title. Askren became Missouri's first two-time Big 12 Champion last season in addition to the Tiger's first-ever wrestling NCAA Champion. Askren is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation at 174 pounds. Askren is a four-time Academic All-Big 12 member, and this marks his third year on the first team.
McCormick, named an All-American last season, is ranked fifth in the nation at 133 pounds and in search of his first Big 12 Championship title. McCormick finished second at the 2006 Big 12 Championships. The first team is honor is the third of McCormick's career.
A newcomer to the Big 12 tournament, Maxwell Askren is 26-1 on the season and stands at No. 2 in the nation at 197 pounds.
The University of Missouri will host the 11th annual Big 12 Wrestling Championships Saturday, March 3, beginning at 11 a.m. (CT) in the Hearnes Center. Tickets can be purchased at Mizzou Arena, by calling 1-800-CAT-PAWS or by ordering online. Tickets will also be available at the door. Doors for the first session of the day will open at 9:30 a.m.
