The University of Minnesota Golden Gophers wrestling dual against Iowa at Noon on Sunday January 13, 2019 has sold out. The last Gopher wrestling sell out occurred on Feb. 9, 2014 when the No. 3 Gophers toppled No.1 Penn State 18-17 for a share of the 2014 Big Ten Dual Meet Championship.
Current member of the coaching staff, Director of Operations Jordan Kingsley, started at 125-pounds for the Gophers that day. Head coach Brandon Eggum and head assistant coach Luke Becker were both on the coaching staff that day as well.
This will be the 104th meeting between the two border rivals and the Gophers record in the series sits at 28-74-1 all time with the last Gophers victory coming on Jan. 25, 2014 by a dual score of 19-15.
Both head coaches in the dual, Tom Brands for Iowa and Brandon Eggum for Minnesota, now coach their alma maters and have been part of the rivalry for decades.
