Four Vikings went 2-0 on the day. Ryan King celebrated his birthday in grand style. He scored a 15-4 major decision over Adams State's Dave Welanko for his 100th career victory. He added a 5-2 decision over UNK's Matt True as he improved to 26-4 on the year.
Also picking up two wins were Cody Henriksen at 157 pounds, No. 4 Dusty Wilking at 174 pounds and No. 1 Tim Boldt at 197 pounds.
Augustana, 12-4 in duals this season, won six matches against Adams State. The Vikings trailed 6-3 until King's major decision gave them a 7-6 edge. Augie then trailed 9-7 before Henriksen, Wilking No. 4 Nate Buys and Boldt reeled off four straight wins to put the Vikings ahead 26-10. Henriksen and Buys each won by pins, while Boldt had a major decision.
No. 6 Cris Bietz was well on his way to a win, leading Heath Soderstrom 14-3 before Soderstrom was awarded a defensive fall at 5:57.
Against Nebraska-Kearney, the Lopers jumped out to a 7-0 lead after No. 1 Trevor Charbonneau and No. 1 Brett Allgood defeated Chris Trampe and Jeremie Degen. Augie's Andre VanderVelde, ranked fifth at 141 pounds, got the Vikings on the scoreboard with a 6-4 sudden victory No. 2 Jeff True.
Augustana later trailed 10-9 before Wilking gave the Vikings the lead for good when he pinned Paul Sutton in 4:34 to put the Vikings ahead 15-10.
Boldt then gave Augustana the winning points when he scored a 5-3 decision over third-ranked Jeff Sylvester.
