    Appalachian Open canceled due to winter weather

    BOONE, N.C. -- The Appalachian Open, hosted by Appalachian State University wrestling, is canceled due to impending winter weather conditions, head coach JohnMark Bentley announced on Wednesday.

    The Mountaineers (8-2, 3-0 SoCon) were scheduled to host the Appalachian Open on Saturday but safety concerns with the winter forecast forced the Apps to cancel the tournament. The tournament will not be made up.

    The Mountaineers are in action tonight at The Citadel for their fourth Southern Conference match of the season.
