    • Reviewing the 2004 Tournament
Adams State College's Kortney Lake (Craig, Colo.) wrestled his way to a place at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational for the second straight year. Finishing eighth with a 4-3 record, Lake led the Grizzlies to a 34th place finish in the 23rd annual tournament. Lake had finished fourth in the 133-pound bracket of the 2003 tournament and went on to All-America honors with a sixth place finish at the 2004 NCAA Division II National Championships in Mankato, Minn. He is the only Grizzly in Jason Ramstetter's coaching tenure, now in its seventh year, to have placed in the tournament.

The eight members of the Grizzly team that competed posted a combined 13 wins, 12 of which came against NCAA Division I foes. All but two of the eight posted at least one win and helped the Grizzlies score 16.5 team points as ASC finished ahead of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference rivals Western State (37th) and seven NCAA Division I schools in the 46-team tournament.

Michigan, which had finished second to Nebraska in 2003, had four individual champions and scored 148 points to edge Nebraska, which had 139.5 points, for the overall team title.
