“Obe brings a lot of experience both on the National and International levels,” said NC State head coach Pat Popolizio. “His world-class wrestling will have a major impact on the development of our student-athletes on and off the mat.
“Our goal is to produce NCAA Champions and All-Americans, as well as Olympic level athletes here at NC State. Obe’s background will help this coaching staff develop athletes to reach the pinnacle of our sport.”
Blanc has been a member of Team USA since he finished his college career in 2009. Most recently, he was both the U.S. World Team Trials and U.S. Open champion in 2013. He is currently ranked No. 1 at 55 KG for Team USA.
Blanc wrestled collegiately at both Lock Haven and Oklahoma State. In 2007 at Lock Haven, he earned All-America honors after finishing sixth at the NCAA Championships. He finished his college career at Oklahoma State, falling one win shy of earning All-America status at the 2009 NCAA Championships. For his collegiate career, Blanc compiled a 118-41 record with 25 pins.
