Penn State's Class of 2025 recruiting class….yes, the 2025 class, got off to a great start this evening as Dalton Perry (Central Mountain, PA) gave the Nittany Lions a verbal commitment. The commitment was broken by InterMat/MatScouts Willie Saylor, at the wishes of his family. Earlier this month, Perry wrapped up his freshman campaign by winning a Pennsylvania AAA state title at 126 lbs. At the state tournament, Perry traversed the bracket without surrendering a takedown. Perry's exploits have earned a spot at #15 in the national rankings via MatScouts. In the latest Freshman Big Board update, Perry checks in at #9.

Before he stepped foot on a high school mat, Perry had already placed at the Cadet World Team Trials, 16U freestyle, and the Super 32. He was fourth at both Cadet's and the Super 32, while taking seventh in Fargo.

During the high school regular season Perry went 41-2. His only two losses came at the Powerade where he missed out on placing by going 2-2. He'll start his sophomore season on a 29-match winning streak. Perry captured his state title with a 6-3 win over Hempfield Area's Ethan Lebin.

The early commitment may be surprising, but Perry's heading to PSU isn't that big of a shock, considering he trains out of the M2 facility owned and operated by Penn State legend David Taylor.
